July 5th, 2007 Tickertape Parade!

Daniel is in town! Daniel is the foodiest of all of my friends. He studies food blogs religiously, and when he visits, we tend to go on eating tours of Sydneys, with date after hot date. Yesterday we went on a tour including East Ocean Yum Cha, where I got to eat my most favourite food ever, Cha Leong, to which Daniel said “It’s all made out of flour”. It’s true. Deep fried donutty bread wrapped in hot, silky rice flour noodles. Mmmmmm. Later in the day we attempted to get Nasi Lemak at Chinese Malay on Hunter St, but they were sold out for the day. Mmmm… food day.

April 8th, 2007 VB BD

Yesterday was Vanessa Berry’s birthday party. I arose at 9am in order to bake delicious cakes and bisctuits for the modest afternoon ‘do. I baked apple and custard cakes as well as my world famous heart healing chocolate hazelnut biscuits, which are otherwise known as miracle biscuits or amazing biscuits. They really are amazing.
Anyway, there was so much love for the beautiful VB in her kitchen, that it was overwhelming. Happy Birthday Vanessa! You’re the best girl!!!!!!

February 26th, 2007 Happy Birthday Rah!

Happy Birthday Rah!

Cupcakes for little Sarah! Her birthday party was amazing. She got so many new ponies, and Alex and Jack and I ate all of the cheese. Then we scoffed the cupcakes. Then the girls danced in the living room. I accidently spilt someone’s cup of passion pop, which was amazing as I was not drinking. I tried to sip a little, but alas, I was just not into it.
The children went out to party into the night, and the adults went home to play scrabble and drink tea.

January 25th, 2006 Max Brenner, omg.

Today I was out with my dear knitting friend Kath(of the now defunct knitpowers), and showed her how to drop spindle(she had been teaching herself and was stuck, she did fabulously!). Anyway, like young cosmopolitan ladies often do, we were going to go for coffee(as we needed a sit down after making fun of the yarn selection in Lincraft “Which is the ugliest yarn?”). I was excited by the prospect of Hot Chocolate(as I cannot drink coffee- though I love the smell) and she suggested we go to Max Brenners.
Now, the darling Jamie(www.mspolly.com) had told me about MB, and she is a young lady of such good taste, that I was excited. I could tell it was going to be good, because Kath’s walking speed was so fast! It was like me when I am heading towards a pet shop. I thought I was the only person who did that! So endearing!
We also went to the Max Brenner cafe, which is right next to the David Jones food court, and I had suckao, which was frothed milk in a special cup, with a tealight underneath, with a metal spoon/shovelly thing with a straw in the handle, and a little dish of chocolate chips(dark) which you scoop in and let them melt. Oh my goodness, it was JUST SO GOOD. It is such high quality chocolate, it’s almost a drug experience. If I take anyone on a date, it would so be there. In fact, for the next few months, I will be FINDING EXCUSES TO TAKE MY FRIENDS THERE.
Mind, we had to ask the waitress how on earth I was to drink my beverage, but that is just one of the many upsides there are to being a total dork!

November 29th, 2005 Blythe in the city.

This was.. ermm well over a week ago now, but I’m only just now updating. Which is why my flickr account gets more love than my blog. Oops.
One fine warm late spring day, I went out with the lovely Miss’s Berry, and my Blythes, on a cupcake and gothic lolita/chinatown shopping mission…

Our first stop was Cupcakes on Pitt, a cafe dedicated soley to cupcakes. It was much anticipated, but we were ready for a letdown, it being sydney and all. Dora at cupcakes on Pitt. The cafe is tiny, but the cakes are tops! The icing is super smooth and the cakes are lovely and moist and soft. Mmmmm cupcakes on pitt. I fell off my chair because I was wearing too many skirts and was too short. And a big orange canvas fell on us and Vanessa saved us from death. Although if we were hit by the canvas, I’m sure we would have gotten free cupcakes. Darn!
Other than homocidal artwork, I was super impressed with the cupcakes(I had honeycomb and chocolate), but it’s more of a shop geared towards take away, as the premesis is teeny and had seating for maybe 5 people.
