I’m just waiting on my long arm stapler to come in from order to officially launch it… But alas, keep an eye out(especially if you’re trying to eat dinner on our table, where stacks of half finished zines sit, abandoned in favor of life/workin’/relearning css).. more news as it comes to hand…

March 30th, 2006 Creative Knitting Magazine!

I am totally tooting my own horn here, but you can check out a pattern for a knitted capelet in the latest issue of Creative Knitting Magazine which came out on Monday, in Australia.
I wear my Poodle a lot, suprisingly,
There’s also a super interesting article in there about a group who have been creatively vandalising around Sydney lately, as well as a bit on Knitta, a group in the US who predominately decorate with knitted things.
You can get it from pretty much all newsagents in Australia, and you can also get it in NZ, but I’m not sure of it’s availibility. I will stop tootin now!

March 28th, 2006 Caxton and Pretty girls like poetry badges

Designed for my friend Alison Gerber, who is a poet, and Jono Gerber, who is in the band Caxton. They are married, and I am proud and must play up this fact because I feel bad that I missed their wedding due to being overwhelmed by anti church feelings by the person who I was involved with.
Anyway, it was rad to be able to design for them, and we’re all super happy with how they turned out! And it was great fun to design something for someone else, especially for projects that are very awesome such as these.

December 24th, 2005 We love Us.

sanrio puri again

Originally uploaded by spycore.

Just in case you were unclear.

I adore the sanrio machine, even though it’s super lightening skills make me look like I’ve got red hair.

Ahoy: extending the nautical theme to all aspects of life.
It’s good to match: VB was spoken to by DRUNKS on the way to puri, and the DRUNK complimented her on her outfit and showed her his undies(!!) and how they matched his shirt. EWW!! VB recreated this scene!
We love us: We were drinking passionfruit icey drink from a bubble tea place(to properly get into our role as wannabe asian teenagers), and we went a bit silly, and were talking about how much better puri is than going out drinking and we were talking about how we get the photos as souveniers and VB said “To show how good we are” and we were laughing quite loudly and it just degenerated into “WE LOVE US”, so we notes it.
Rock: I just wanted to show off my screamfeeder tshirt, really. But then I drew stamps over it. Doh.

December 24th, 2005 Happy Fruit Pudding Season.

I brought up all of the biscuits and lollies in Engadine(or so it seemed), whipped up a batch of royal icing, cleared the kitchen table and got to work. With thanks from Blair and Allegra, for their parcels of americandy(TM), the three of us declared that it was the most festive that any of us had been since puberty.
Some of the best include: The Russian factory(armaments), The A Frame, Log Cabin, Renovators Dream, boat and the school canteen.
Don’t you want to live in lollitown?
Miniature gingerbread houses day inspired the sugar coma purikura.

November 2nd, 2005 Knitted wire bangle

Knitted wire bangle

I was inspired by the Anti-Craft’s knitted wire article, and whipped this up last night. It was really quite fun, as I’ve never knitted with wire before, and found some lying around.
Am going to try to pop off to Lincrap tomorrow to see if they have different colours!
I worked this on a pair of handmade needles which I had lazily varnished the tips of with nail polish, which didn’t stand up to being viciously rubbed with wire! I know nail polish is meant to be a temporary varnish. Bad Helen!

To be honest, I have no idea where the people who read this thing live, however, I will assume that there are a lot of non-australians(ha!), as there tends to be on the internet. In Australia, halloween isn’t really celebrated. It’s actually considered rather un-Australian and American Imperialistic, really.
Anyway, I am friends with some dear American ex-pats, or Amerifriends, as I like to call them, because I am cheesy, I am deeply honoured to be involved in their native tradition of Halloween. What’s not to love? Costumes, lollies(candy, ha!), gore, more lollies!
Although I had originally planned to dress up as a scarecrow, this year, I decided to go as Fenella, my star Blythe doll, as we already had nearly matching frocks! My outfit consisted of: The dreaded Hot Topic remake of an Angelic Pretty jumper skirt, several underskirts and a homemade headdress and sock tops. Other costumes of the night included Jack and Jill, President Sakai and Chairman Kaga, The Phantom, Fi and her friend had paper bags over their heads with faces on them(I didn’t get it, really, and it made me feel awfully young).
Anyways, there were lots of bloggy nerds there, Rob(the award winning photographer, who took the above photo) has posted some photos here, Amy’s are here, Kris’ write up is here, and the lovely Andrew, who I had the pleasure of meeting for the first time, has written about it here!
Phew.
