November 29th, 2007 Mixtape Show!

Oh, if you’re in Sydney this weekend, I’m going to be showing my untitled 50s girls in a milkbar illustration at the Workshop Showroom’s Mixtape Event, (in St Peters up the newty end here’s how to get there, on Saturday night from 7-9 or something. Also, Sam Twyford Moore’s lil bro is playing a show there and STM is also showing some drawings, and Leigh and Cecelia are doing things so are other people whom I am too unhip to know. It’s all music themed, and I’m going to be putting in heaps of b-52s mix tapes. I really hope my pink and red polka dot dress arrives in time. ie. tomorrow. Eeep!

At the Penrith Regional Gallery Zine Fair! It was such an incredibly fun day! I almost completely piked on my table(thanks Leigh for manning our stall) in order to spend time with my internets friend Jade and her super adorable behbehs! I could not contain myself for joy! I also missed out on the marvelous Sue Pedley’s artist talk because I was busy playing with behbehs. Sue said she was disgusted and would never speak to me again. Then she said she was joking and just wanted me to write it on my blog. When I said I would, she took everything back. She was kind of the most amazing mentor, helping out Leigh and I when we were in bumping in panics!
Speaking of Leigh, he and I dressed like Vince and Howard from the Mighty Boosh(I am Vince, Leigh is Howard :P ) in our Zine Fair uniforms. It turned out that Gallery Manager, Anne Loxely also wore Khaki, so we got a snap all together, after Leigh stuck an imitation Leigh Rigozzi ghoul on her sleeve(crafted from felt by me!)!
It was such an amazing day, coinciding with the herald article, Leigh and I and Rah were sort of famous for the day, and the attendance of various friends made it so incredibly fun! Being located in the gorgeous heritage gardens of the gallery made it really chilled out and it was kind of the funnest-est zine fair I’ve ever been to!
Many thanks, of course, to the lovely Jade for snapping this photo which I really feel sums up how I feel about the whole exhibition experience. It was a LOT of hard work, but it was certainly rewarding, and I really appreciate everyone who has helped and also everyone who has visited!
If you haven’t, yet, I sent out another shipment of cards for the shrine of happiness!

I’m just waiting on my long arm stapler to come in from order to officially launch it… But alas, keep an eye out(especially if you’re trying to eat dinner on our table, where stacks of half finished zines sit, abandoned in favor of life/workin’/relearning css).. more news as it comes to hand…

June 3rd, 2006 Ahhh! Technology!/ Vanessa’s Parramatta Road Tour.

This morning I went on a tour of Parramatta Road, which Vanessa was holding in conjunction with her tour agent, Lucas.
It was a really awesome tour, forgive the cheese, but it was like stepping into one of Vanessa’s stories, which was AMAZING.
What is also amazing, is that Lucas was taking photos of the entire thing, which you can see on his flickr, so when I got home and looked at my flickr, there was the drawing of a rabbit that I was doing while Vanessa was touring us.
Other highlights include: the big red flag, Vanessa’s rainbow dress, Lucas’ suit, the confused guy in the tile shop.
Do you know what is also amazing? The reason that I find everything amazing is because I drank dessert wine with Racheal(not very much, mind, and before lunch) and subsequently love the world.
Now, to hope I am coordinated enough to spend the afternoon watching crappy movies and finishing the scarf I am knitting, who’s deadline is on Monday.
ps. Lucas keeps porn in his pocket.

May 9th, 2006 Well Adjusted.

Some friends of mine have started a web zine. They launched it on the weekend with a very cozy and mellow autumny afternoon backyard show in Annandale. I am linking to them because I love them.
Check it out. I think they are going to be organising more afternoon backyard shows, which are so much better than pub shows because of:
* fresh air.
* you can sit in the yard and knit or read while the band plays if you don’t feel like dancing.
* it isn’t so loud that you can feel bits of your brain dying.
* You’re more likely to talk to people you don’t know when you’re in someone’s backyard than if you’re in a dark pub.
* BBQs are always good.
* If you’re suburban you don’t have to secure overnight accomodation because the show wont run till all hours.
Don’t forget: Support local stuff. \m/ Because without it, your town will suck, and your friends will move to other towns that don’t suck, and you will be lonely.

January 15th, 2006 Zine Fair 06

little golden book of angst coverI quietly launched my “Little Golden Book of Angst”, the story of post breakup angst, today at the something or other poultry thinger Zine Fair. I shared a table with the lovely Vanessa Berry, Daniel(who declined to sell) and Tasmanian but Sydney based artist Leigh. I didn’t get rid of very many zines, but I got a few gems, was visited by Fiona Berry(I squealed upon her arrival, quite audibly), was reunited with war buddy, Louise, and the bands were really quite nice and inoffensive, I only poked two people in the guts and managed to be quite nice. I really appreciate the couches. The day concluded with purikura, as all good days should. There are more pictures underneath the linker below..
