May 30th, 2005 The Knitting Prince

The Knitting PrinceMy new favorite thing: the Knitting Prince. The concept, the man, the knitting! I first spotted him on Dumplingrrl’s flickr, and found out more about the suave gent on pinku.
He is so beautiful and suave, I have not had such a crush on a gentleman since President Sato in Shimotsuma Monotagari! I bet if you were overwhelmed by the Knitting Prince and dropped stitches, he would deftly swoop with his crochet hook and pick them up for you and then grin and his teeth would sparkle.
This just in; HE HAS A WEBSITE!
So, of course, this enquiring mind turned to “Who is Australia’s knitting prince?”, and I instantly thought of Clinton. He who is so often seen with me at knitting dos as Paris Hilton’s tiny chihuahua is with she. At the moment, he can only do garter stitch, but he is learning.

May 27th, 2005 Shades of Penrith, part 2.

Driving down Jamison Road, a car full of hoons drives past and I can hear a mysterious noise above the stereo. I turn down our Fugazi, to hear “GO QUEENSLAND! QUEEEEENSLAAAAND!”. I say “Wha?” to Clinton, who explains that the rugby league was on and queensland were playing, they must have won. “Good on him.” says me “I should have yelled back I REALLY LIKE KNITTING, KNITTTTTING”
They probably couldn’t have picked a less apathetic car to yell at.

May 23rd, 2005 Conceptual Obsessions…

conceptual obsession

Tis a rare thing indeed, to be walking through the messy aisles of Big W and have my heart captured as instantly as it was with this sheet of stickers. Granted, I am often drawn to brightly coloured sparkelly things, but am most often quickly over them quite soon after they begin, ie. as my eyes adjust to make out the details, I find that what seemed cute from afar was incredibly ugly up close. But alas, I am perfectly in love with these stickers. Not captured here are some of my favorites(because I scanned them in a hurry):
* Monkey on horse
* Lion jumping through a hoop with a sweat drop on his forehead.
* Monkey standing on a ball with one hand.
* Assorted birdies.
The icing on the circus stickers love cake, was in fact, that the clown wasn’t scary, at all, which is quite a feat, I feel.

May 22nd, 2005 Shades of Penrith..

So the other night, Clinton and I went out to the supermarket, quite late at night, and I was tired and dozy, and it was cold, so I rugged up in my scarf and beanie, which is otherwise quite conservative, but has little pointy tips on the end, so it kind of looks like ears. After scoring one filthy look from a lad with no neck, waiting in his car, Clinton took my hand and we confidently stepped inside the supermarket. I was quite pleased to have rugged up as it was freezing in there, and I wandered around sleepily in the almost empty supermarket. As I wandered around the bread department, while Clinton picked the ‘best’ loaf, I almost ran into a man who said “Great hat!” quietly, to which I replied “Thankyou. I made it myself” and he told me how he works in upholstery, and we grinned smugly because we had an unspoken bond by the world of fiber arts. Lovely!

I have never seen a star wars movie, save for when I was quite young, I remember being scared of Princess Leia being tied to the big blubber monster, and fleeing the television, until which point, nothing had scared me as much as ET and his creepy light up finger.
Damn you 80’s popular culture.

Succulents

I am a filthy yuppie who collects succulents. This is about half of my collection, which doesn’t include the ones I am propagating, or the ones that live with Clinton. I brought 3 from a man at the markets and he told me how he started off like me, and now he has 3 greenhouses full, as I gushed about how much I love them. Is it really that obvious that I am prone to object obsession?

May 6th, 2005 Oh, look! New bloggy style!

The Wheels of IndustryWow, look, Helen has a new blog with comments and all. It’s still under construction(yes, Booth, I can hear you cringe all the way from the fringe of the burbs), so expect it to look prettier and be more functional over
the next couple of days. The entire site is going to be re-done too, in case you’ve been wondering why spycore.net is still looking sooo last year. Expect more pretties.
In the meantime, do feel free to pop over to my flickr account(thanks plupp-plupp!), and check out our holiday photos! And for those of you who are brimming with Jerilderie pride, check out the extra special Jerilderie page(I’m looking at you, Peach).

You may or may not have seen the lake, now you’ve seen the wool. From the source of the Riverina’s irrigation comes a beautiful blend of Merino and Mohair curls.

May 4th, 2005 Ooooh

It’s getting a lot better now, at least it’s pink.
Things I would like to do:

  • get rid of the link at the top that says “blog”
  • change the title thing w/ the dinky number
  • go to sleep

Not in that order, of course.

May 4th, 2005 Dear Website

Please don’t be ugly. Why can’t you be as easy to customise and embed as Diaryland?
