My Blythe collection doubled yesterday, with the original object of my Blythely affection, “I love you it’s true” arriving in Clinton’s backpack. Excuse me while I squeee some more. You should see us, dressing them and discussing their outfits, it’s absurd!

From the rasterbator, online rastering software, Clinton and I made two new posters for his house. These super cute deer are now in his bedroom(I had to shade in the background of the little dots because it came out a bit too bodgy). We also made a bigger poster of Guy from Fugazi to stick above Clinton’s computer/studio. Just like when you’re bbqing, and run out of gas when you’re nearly finished, we almost ran out of ink, and the bottom right hand sheet was messed up. I wish to tweak these a bit more, but I am full of love for rastered posters.

Wheeeee. I’m so happy to announce that the lovely Miss Fenella has arrived safe and sound with her head in tact. She is so beautiful and I love this inanimate object with all of my heart. I can’t wait to make her new outfits, hopefully something blue so that she can live up to her namesake(Birdie Blue). I’m still confused as to why her clothes are orange and yellow. Do you love the blatant self promotion of her looking at herself before she got here on this here website. I know, it’s shameless.

Last week at the local Spinners and Weavers Guild meeting, we had a needle felting demonstration, which was great, and at the end we got to fiddle around with some wool and felting needles. I made a purple bunny and Clinton made this little well accessorised hitchhiker. Since we were sitting at the self proclaimed ‘naughty table’, I gave the Bunny red eyes. Some of the other lasses at our table were making green and red eyeballs. The lady who demonstrated’s website isn’t working at the moment, but I swear it was www.needlefelting.com.au, if anyone is interested.
Also, after many hours of consulting with my spinning wheel expert, Karen(who owns 17 wheels, I think, and loves every one of them!), I had decided that although I would love a Nagy Upright(”The Rolls Royce of spinning wheels”), that I would get an Ashford Traveller. We asked around to see if anyone might have one that they would sell, and one lady, Doreen, said that she had one hanging around in her garage and I might have it, if I wanted! It is the most beautiful wheel, and since this photograph was taken, I spent a bit of time cleaning it and oiling it and I put a new drive band and a spring on it, and it is absolutely marvellous. I’m so incredibly appreciative of Doreen’s generosity, and that of everyone at the Spinners Guild, which has given me a real appreciation that a caring community is possible when you’re not in the country. It’s amazing to be able to spend time with and learn from all of these older and experienced crafts people!

Just to state the obvious, spycore dot net has a neeeeeew look(excessive vowel usage is necessary to demonstrate how exciting this is).
I was a little nervous about changing the look, and I didn’t for a while because I was contractually obligated to not change it, during it’s time on exhibition in the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, when I was an upcoming artist, but now, as a has been,
For the moment, my website has become a blog, with none of the archival stuff from the old site, which is a nice new start. Soon, though, I will build websites for Astro Press, my small press publishing empire and Birdie Lou Handspun Wools, to showcase and flog my handspun wool. In the meantime, enjoy the new look, update your links and bookmarks and help yourself to tea and biscuits.

My first full sized Blythe Doll, Birdie Blue, is at this very time, flying over the ocean on her way to her new life, from Hong Kong.
After watching “Border Patrol” last night(quality tv that was), I am worried that they will drill her head open looking for cocaine. Eeep!
Is it bad that I’ve already picked out a name and also the type of the next two Blythe dolls that I want to buy?
I hope your journey is safe, Birdie Blue!
