February 24th, 2006 new hair mark 2

new hair mark 2

Originally uploaded by spycore.

I have decided it is best to announce one’s new hair on ones blog, because last time I chopped off my hair, I went to hang with Kris, Amy and Kath the next day and none of them noticed. I hacked off a good 30cm(12″) that time. Hmph.
So, now, I announce my latest hacking off of hair. My fringe is lop sided, but hey, it’s wonky. There has been some discussion on my flickr wether I have something stuck in my eye or if I am trying to be saucy(and failing), but I think it is that I have been working on a comic based on one of the cats that Tim lives with, who’s name is Mickey, and he has one eye.
Please act suprised when you see me next with my short hair.

February 19th, 2006 wheres your tail?

wheres your tail

Newsflash: Benben sat on my hand properly fr the first time this afternoon. He has become interested in pecking at my hand, so lately, I’ve stopped pretending he is scary, and just let him go at it. He hopped right on today, in order to get at my wriggly index finger(which I screech at him “wormie! wormie!”). I started putting some food in my hand, so as he hops on and pecks maniacally at my finger, he gets some food, and stays on my hand longer! And I’d given up hope and was planning on buying him a huge flight cage so he wouldn’t have to interact with us inferior humans!

February 17th, 2006 Oh Benny.

rear view ben- pre tail moult

Originally uploaded by spycore.

Although Benny has been moulting for a couple of weeks now, he has now lost his tail. I was out on a super city adventure/holiday, seeing Ni Hao! and Deerhoof and Calvin Johnson(over two nights), and before I left, dear Benny’s tail was looking a little thin, and my mother sent me an sms on the second day saying that his final tail feather fell out during the night.
He has little orange stumps on the front of his wings and on his face and is starting to fluff out a bit more, but I find new feathers fallen out in his cage every day. He is exceptionally crabby and adorable. I said to him, when I came home and saw his tail “Benny, I have always wanted a lovebird”- with his lack of tail, he looks like such a peculiar stumpy lil thing. Batteries are currently charging, but I will photograph the fine young lad asap and post.
I figured I should announce it here, as it seems like I saw 3/4 of the people I know in Sydney at the Calvin Johnson show, and told them that Benny had only one feather yet- The People Deserve to Know.
My friend Alison told me that Canaries loose their tails during their second moult, and moulting happens every year, I am quite sure, so Benny might be two! He may have already FATHERED CHICKS. I don’t like to think. His secret past life is a bit disturbing(like finding out that Dr Phil broke up with his first wife for being unfaithful, though, you would expect that from a fat man who tells people how to loose weight, no?). I like to imagine that the breeder sold him because he had the gay.
I also read somewhere that canaries brain cells regenerate every year during the moult, so you need to expose the bird(though he wouldn’t like to be referred to as the bird) to canary songs so they can remember what they sound like. He is almost completely mute at the moment, with only the quietest, weakest two toned chirps coming out of his sweetie little beak. So we’re currently listening to a selection of Ni Hao!(As described by Vanessa “They’re just like chirping baby birds!”) and canary songs.
Come back, BB!

It was kind of stinky being inside pub all day(even with the no smoking inside thing there is years of built up stink in there), but preferable to being in the beer garden, being harrassed by dirt and sun.
I’m sulky because I made about a fifth of what I made last time we went, and I don’t know that we will be going again.
However, sulking aside, it was a pleasing day with the girl gang, which involved cupcakes, cashews, chilli beans and those hundreds and thousands biscuits with pink icing.
Anyway, my merch included: a stack of cds, felt brooches(cupcakes, ice cream and pacman), fimo sweetie beads and handspun wool. Some of the wool is at my etsy store, and I’m thinking about putting the brooches and beads up there, too.

February 3rd, 2006 It’s spreading quicker than glandular fever..

Amy gave me the blog equivalent of an STD.

Four jobs I’ve had:
1. Secretary-ness for an accountancy firm.
2. Merch table ho(the coolest band was Screamfeeder)- Jamie asked what this is, I mean running the merchandise table at a rock show. It is fun, especially when you’re moved to dance on the pool table when your favorite song comes on, and you’re up the back of the venue where the less enthused people tend to stand.
3. Web design ho.
4. Knitwear designin’

Four movies I can watch over and over:
1. Shimotsuma Monotagari.
2. Fugazi Instrument Docco(Guy Picciotto is soooooooo spicey, but I don’t watch it just for that)
3. Picnic at Hanging Rock.
4. Ummmm. Ooh! PeeWee’s Big Adventure.

Four places I’ve lived:
1. Loftus
2. Loftus
3. Loftus- one time I swapped bedrooms with my brother when his mobility was decreasing.
4. Does the 3 or so weeks I house sat for Kris count? I say yes. Chippendale.

Four TV Shows I love:
1. Eastenders.
2. Monkey World.
3. Father Ted.
4. I think there are only 3, right now.

Four Places I’ve Vacationed:
1. Melbourne.
2. Terrigal(feel free to laugh! It rhymes with terrible).
3. The Riverina.
4. South Molle Island(oh the water is so warm and bouyant).

Four of my Favorite Dishes:
1. Raisin toast with peanut butter(such an invalid food)
2. Bazhen stir fry by Vanessa
3. Chocolate Pavlova by Nigella
4. Nasi Lemak(ta, Ooi).

Four sites I visit daily:
1. flickr. (I wish to have it’s babies)
2. This is Blythe forums.
3.Live urinal journal (tragic, I know)
4. dooce - I shant pretend I don’t.

Four places I would rather be right now:
1. Melbourne, visiting my friends who’s names start with J, and very soon, one who’s name starts with A.
2. In the bath, smelling sweetly of lemon and rose, reading “The Subtle Knife”, is that a very daggy book? I don’t mind.
3. On a farm, having been adopted by a rural family or person, spinning wool on my dear Traveller, on their balcony.
4. California, visiting my long term internet gaggle of friends there.

Four people I’m tagging:
Jamie,
Tim,
Fiona,
Insert your name here.
